Success Story – Dominic Young
In the first of our series of Woodstock Success Stories, we sat down with Dominic Young, one of our Area Sales Associates, to discuss his time working for Woodstock and how his career has progressed during his years with the company.
As an Area Sales Associate Dominic spends his time on the road supporting some of our national customers with showroom displays, product training and service support all over the country
Can you share a bit about your background and how you started with the company and how has your role evolved since then?
I come from a carpentry and property maintenance background and started working for Woodstock in 2006 at the Gloucester site in Eastbrook Road, where Woodstock began its journey.
I joined with one other colleague, fitting Woodstock products nationwide. Woodstock branched out and relocated to Quedgeley where I was the sole installer. Our customer base continued to expand and eventually we relocated to a purpose-built workshop and warehouse in Hereford.
Over the next few years the business continued to expand and the fitting team increased in size to cope with the growing demand for our products.
We introduced building displays in the workshop rather than on site. This enabled us to increase efficiency, check and control the quality of the products before being installed in customers showrooms, giving us the best opportunity to showcase the superior aspects of our products to the end users, increasing our opportunity for sales.
In what ways has the company supported your professional development and growth?
The company’s growth has created avenues of opportunity across the business and Woodstock have recognised my skills and my desire to provide the best service possible to our customers and have given me the opportunity develop in a different direction, in my new role as an Area Sales Associate.
How does Woodstock recognise and appreciate the efforts of its employees?
Woodstock shows its appreciation for employees in lots of different ways, providing free lunches, health care, YuLife rewards, specially catered events and festive hampers at Christmas, all of which go to create a positive working environment for all.
What advice would you give to your colleagues or others aspiring for success?
In my 18 years at Woodstock I’ve been part of a positive and nurturing working environment. I believe that being a team player, going the extra mile to give the best service possible in whichever area you work will create opportunities for anyone to have a successful career at Woodstock.
